Yvonne “Rivkah” S. Prothero, passed away on March 7, 2025. She was born in Oxford, Mississippi, on Feb. 17, 1927 to the now deceased Luther and Allie May Smith. Rivkah was also predeceased by her sister, Anita Katherine Smith (Kay Johnson). While married to Navy Lieutenant Commander Stanley E. Prothero, she experienced living in many different U.S. States. Later on, she moved from Horsham, PA to Memphis, TN, where she took the opportunity to convert to Judaism, which gave her life fulfillment. There she would be eternally grateful for her opportunity to work for Dr. Rosensweig. She cherished the long lasting friendship she had with the doctor and his wife Miriam.
She retired to PA and settled in Kingston. She found purpose and a rewarding life through Temple Israel, while enjoying her secretarial work at Community Counseling Services in Wilkes-Barre.
At Shul she looked forward to offering her help anyway needed to Rabbi Kaplan, as well as being forever indebted to Cantor Ahron Abraham for all he did to assist her involvement in activities within the synagogue.
Rivkah is survived by her daughter, Peggy Borocci and her husband, Charles, grandchildren, Vincent and Nicole (Leo), as well as her precious great grandchildren, Nina and Marco Wentline. She also leaves behind her niece Teri Walls; nephew Luther Smith and their families.
