William Simon, 88 of Kingston passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born, August 21, 1926 to Sonia and Reuben Simon. He graduated from Coughlin High School. A veteran of the navy during World War II, he served as a chaplain's assistant and continued to be an active member of the Jewish Veteran's Association. A long time member of Ohav Zedek synagogue and the Jewish Community Center, he was a beloved member and supporter of the Jewish community. He and his wife, Jean, were the owners of Simon's Fabricland.
He is survived by his daughters, Debra Simon of Guilford, CT and Marcia Simon Zimniski (Tom) of Dallas, PA, 4 granddaughters, 2 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter, his sister, Evelyn Simon Kaplan and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Jean Dumoff Simon and daughter Annette Simon DeAngio (Gary).
Services will be held at Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, on Monday, June 1st at 2:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Duryea section of the West Pittston Jewish Cemetery, West Pittston.
Shiva will be held at the Zimniski Residence, 7 Downing Drive Dallas, PA, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Friday.
