THELMA JACOBS Obituary

Thelma Jacobs, 93 residing in Worcester, Massachusetts, previously of Kingston, Pennsylvania passed away on June, 11, 2016

She shared 64 years of marriage with her loving husband, the late Howard Jacobs. Born in Wilkes Barre she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ruth Berkowitz Goldstein, and loving sister of the late Robert Goldstein formerly of New Jersey.

She graduated from Meyers High School and attended the Wilkes-Barre Business College. She worked in Washington, DC for the United States Army during World War II and returned to Wilkes-Barre working for various insurance agencies.

She was a member of the JCC and active participant in their Drama Guild in her earlier years. She studied and learned braille and volunteered for the Blind Association. She was a member of Hadassah, Ohav Zedek Synagogue and their Sisterhood. She was an avid bridge and canasta card player.

She was very proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Thelma's family would like to thank the staff of Eisenberg Assisted Living, the Jewish Health Care Hospice, and Golden Age Home Health Care who lovingly and patiently cared for her.

She is survived by her daughter, Sally Chinian and husband John, Worcester, Massachusetts and her two granddaughters Rachel Chinian, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Rebecca Chinian, Boston Massachusetts.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Ohav Zedek Cemetery with Rabbi David Kaplan officiating, at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, June 14, 2016.

Shiva will be observed at the Woodlands following burial and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ohav Zedek Synagogue or the charity of one's choice.
