SURITA COPLAN Obituary

Surita (Greenberg) Coplan, 89, of Boynton Beach, FL died on Thursday, October 14, 2021, in MorseLife, West Palm Beach.

 

Born, raised and educated in Glen Cove, NY with her late sisters, Janice (Lipsen) and Gloria (Spector), she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Florence Greenberg. She was a graduate of Goucher College and earned her Masters in Public Administration from Marywood. Married in 1953 to her beloved Joseph Coplan, they raised their 3 children and celebrated 50 years of marriage together in Kingston, PA and Hunter's Run, Boynton Beach, FL before his passing in 2003.

 

Surita was a devoted wife and mother. She was an eternal lite member of Temple Israel, and member of the Jewish Community Center and Hadassah. She enjoyed politics and current events, bridge, playing golf, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

 

Surita is survived by her children, Dr. Neil L. Coplan and his wife, Carolyn of NYC; Jay Coplan and his wife, Marita of Carlsbad, CA; Barbara Phillips and her husband, Robert of Potomac, MD; grandchildren, Stephanie, Alison and Sarah; Noah, Shayna and Miriam; Daniel and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Sam; brother and sisters-in-law, Julius and Anita Coplan of Kingston and Roz Friedman of Wilkes-Barre, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 11:30AM in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville, with Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating.

 

Shiva will be held at The Woodlands Resort, Wilkes-Barre, Sunday, October 17 from 1:30-5PM and 7-9PM, and Monday, October 18 from 1-4PM.
