Sidney B. Schimmel, of Bergenfield, NJ and KIngston, died Saturday morning, March 26, 2016, in Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck, NJ.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Philip P. and Lillian J. Segal Schimmel and graduated from Yeshiva University High School of Manhattan, Yeshiva University and received his masters in Psychology from the New School in Manhattan. He earned his Rabbinical degree from the Rabbinical Seminary of Brooklyn, Brighton Beach. He was Principal at the Hebrew Academy of Morris County, Ashar day school and teacher and student adviser at Yeshiva University High School in Manhattan and was a member of the America Psychologist Association and many other religious, educational and civic organizations.
Sidney is survived by his brother, Barry Schimmel and his wife, Joy, Bergenfield, NJ; niece Ilana Schimmel and many friends and cousins.
Graveside Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 27, 2016, at 1:00 pm in Anshe Ahavas Achim Cemetery, Wilkern Street, West Pittston.
