SHELDON NELSON Obituary

Sheldon A. Nelson, 88, of Kingston, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

 

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Martin and Rose Rothman Nelson; was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  Sheldon worked as a salesman for Nelson Garments; Nelson Furniture and later enjoyed driving many members of the community to destinations near and far.  He was a member of Temple Israel, the Jewish Community Center, Landmark Lodge of Masons, the Irem Temple Shrine and other civic and religious organizations.

 

In addition to his parents, Sheldon was preceded by his brother, Samuel Nelson.

 

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Karin Moyles Nelson; sons, Michael (Madelaine) Nelson of Wayne, PA, Daniel Nelson of Burlington, MA; grandchildren, Sarah, Alex, Vivian and Luke; sister-in-law, Terry Nelson; nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, September 20, 2023 at 2:00 pm in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.  Rabbi Larry Kaplan will officiate.

 

Arrangements under the direction of the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. Wilkes-Barre.

 

Memorial contributions, may be made to the Samuel Nelson Care Package Fund the c/o of Temple Israel Synagogue, 239 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702
