SHEILA FENDLER Obituary

Sheila C. Fendler died on November 24, 2013. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 1, 1934. She was raised in Scranton, daughter of the late Pauline and Henry Korn. Sheila was a graduate of the former Scranton Central High School and attended the Lackawanna Business College.

Sheila was married to the late Seymour Fendler for 44 years until his death on February 25, 2002. During that time, she worked with her husband at their store, Harry's Market in Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of various organizations including Temple B'nai B'rith where she previously served as a Board member and joyfully sang in the choir, The Jewish Community Center, The Jewish Home of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Financial Secretary of the National Council of Jewish Women, and Temple B'nai B'rith Sisterhood where she served as Vice-President. She loved travelling, especially cruises or anywhere that had a casino.

She is survived by her sons, Attorney Stephen J. Fendler (Mia) of Shavertown, and Bruce Fendler (Marie) of Larksville, 3 grandchildren, Jonathan, Brian, and Bailey, her sister, Harriet Cohen, of Lauderhill, Florida, and her sisters-in-law, Lillian Savitz of Fort Worth, TX, and Edythe Danoff of Bellmore, NY, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The funeral will held at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Anshe Emes Cemetery with Rabbi Roger Lerner and Rabbi Raphael Nemetsky officiating.

Shiva will be observed at Sheila's home at 293 Butler Street in Kingston on Tuesday from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m., and Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Memorial donations can be made to the Sheila Fendler Memorial Choir Fund at Temple B'nai B'rith in Kingston or to a charity of the donor's choice.
