Sara E. Mayers, (1 month before her 100th birthday) died Thursday evening, July 28, 2022 at Anns Choice in Warminster, PA.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Jennie Edelstein. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her loving husband, Louis Mayers, brothers, Isadore and Jack Edelstein and sister, Ruth Lonstein.
She was a member of Congregation Ohav Zedek in Wilkes-Barre and its sisterhood, the Jewish Community Center, life member of Hadassah, the Jewish Home and many other civic and religious organizations. She created The Laughing Club at the JCC. She was a violinist in the JCC Klezmer Band, the orchestra in The Fountains in Florida and the Second Time AroundBand at Ann’s Choice. She was a member of the Jewish Residents Council at Ann’s Choice.
Sara is survived by her children, Renee (Robert) Van Naarden of Elkins Park, PA, David (Terri) Mayers of Jupiter, FL and Joseph (Gail) Mayers of Dresher, PA. She was the adoring grandmother to her 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at the Chapel at Ann’s Choice, Warminster, PA 18974 at 10:15 AM on Sunday, July 31. Graveside funeral service will follow at 3 PM at Ohav Zedek Cemetery, 501 Chestnut Street, Hanover Township, PA 18706.
Minyanim will be Monday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 2 at 7 PM in the community room at Breyer Estates, 100 Breyer Drive, Elkins Park, PA 19027.
