Rosalyn Friedman

Rosalyn (Roz) Friedman passed away on July 1, 2026, just two weeks before her 93rd birthday. 

Roz was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1933 to the late Sadie and Harrison  Coplan. She graduated from Meyers High School and attended Penn State University. 

The most wonderful and fulfilling part of her life began when she met and married Leonard (Buzzy), of blessed memory. Together they raised two daughters, Cathy and Terry. When the girls were 20 and 17 years old, Roz and Len received another precious gift, the birth of their third daughter, Shelly. Their home was filled with love and joy. Five grandchildren added even more happiness to their full life.

Roz loved her family unconditionally and fiercely and was full of pride for her children,  grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

No one was a stranger. Roz would strike up conversations wherever she went,  making lifelong connections. Her genuine interest in others left lasting impressions.

In her 50s, Roz embraced a new chapter of her life, by joining the staff of Temple Israel, adding a fulfilling career to her lifelong role as devoted homemaker. She found great purpose in her work by serving her community and spending lots of time on the phone.

Roz was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was deeply appreciative of those that cared for her,  never missing an opportunity to thank her caregivers for their compassion. She was a favorite among the staff at Highland Park Senior Living.

Roz is survived by Cathy and Ricky, Terry and Steve, Shelly ,Grandchildren Michele (Jeff), Debbie (Andrew), Brian (Brianna), Eric (Marcie) and Sofie, and Great Grandchildren Winnie, Simon, Leora, Hallie and Bennett. Roz is also survived by her brother, Juidge Coplan (Anita), nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Joseph.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 1:00 pm from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River St. Wilkes-Barre, with interment in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Shiva will be observed at the home of her daughter Cathy and Ricky Zachar, 214 Butler St. Kingston, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Family extends their deep appreciation to the staff at Highland Park and Traditional Hospice for the excellent care given to Roz.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made in her memory to Temple Israel or charity of donors choice.
