RICHARD LEVY Obituary

Richard J. Levy, of Dallas, died Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017 at home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Reuben and Leah Silverman Levy. He graduated from Wyoming Seminary and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Richard owned and operated Percy A. Brown & Co, Wilkes-Barre and Kingston Cake Co. for many years. He was a member of Downtown Wilkes-Barre Merchant Association and Temple Israel. He served on the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority for many years, past master of Masonic Lodge, and past chairman of the PA Bakers Association.

He was preceded in death by brother, Herbert Levy and sister, Lois Rosensweig.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Iris Soble Levy; children, Frederick (Barbara), Kingston; Jonathan (Vivienne), Ramstein, Germany; Dr. David (Dr. Janis Wiener), Oak Park,IL; Alison (Rabbi Charles Popky) Rockaway, NJ; grandchildren, Rachel (Michael Wexler), Reuben (Dr.Yulya Truskinovsky), Joshua, Julia, Samantha, Noa and Aliza, and three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Sonia and Eli and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be Friday, November 24, 2017, at 10:30 am at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River St. Wilkes-Barre. Rabbi Larry Kaplan will officiate.

Interment will follow in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Shiva will be observed Friday 2-4 at the Woodlands, Saturday 7-9 and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 at 405 Orchard West, Dallas, and Monday at the home of Fred and Barbara Levy, Kingston 2-4 and 7-9.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Levy Chapel Fund at Temple Israel or a charity of your choice.
