Paul Bernard Solomon
December 10, 1942 – April 17, 2025
Paul Bernard Solomon, an athletic and spirited soul, passed away on April 17, 2025, at the age of 82. A lifelong resident of the Wyoming Valley, Paul was known for his passion for skiing, service, and strong connections with his community.
An expert skier, Paul was a dedicated member of the Elk Mountain Ski Patrol for over 50 years. His involvement was more than a pastime—it was a deep personal commitment that defined much of his life. He also enjoyed traveling to ski destinations such as Vail / Beaver Creek, where he continued to challenge himself on the slopes.
Beyond skiing, Paul was a man of many talents and interests. He was a competitive tennis player in the local circuit and had also been a judo instructor during his college years. He served proudly as a U.S. Marine, holding his time in the military as a formative chapter filled with meaningful experiences.
Paul was a graduate of Wilkes College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Finance. He later completed his master’s degree in finance, a field in which he built his professional life.
Paul was first married to Marilyn Mikita Solomon, with whom he lived in Kingston until her passing. He later found love again and married Susan Bratkowsky Burrows, with whom he shared a deeply devoted and generous partnership. Paul cherished Susan and their life together, always placing her happiness and well-being at the center of his world. Their relationship was a source of great strength, joy, and mutual respect.
He enjoyed staying connected with lifelong friends from the ski patrol and tennis club, and treasured time with family, including his step-grandchildren.
Paul lived life on his own terms—with energy, vitality, and a remarkable set of skills that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He set high expectations for himself and approached his passions with relentless focus and methodical precision. Whether it was skiing, tennis, his work, or his relationships, Paul pursued everything he cared about with intensity and purpose. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for the drive, discipline, and spirit with which he lived.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 12:00 noon at Temple Israel Cemetery in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Paul’s life.
Shiva will be observed at the family home, Monday from 2 to 4 pm.
