Martin Greenberg, 87, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away early Sunday morning, February 19, 2017, in Alexander Nininger State Veterans Nursing Home, surrounded by family.
Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Morris and Rose Cohen Greenberg and was a graduate of GAR High School.
Martin served his country in the United States Army in Korea as an Infantry Combat Medic and was the recipient of the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with V, two Purple Hearts with one oak leaf cluster, the United Nations Service Award, the Korean Service Award; the Combat Medical Badge, Good Conduct Medal and several other medals and citations. He was medically discharged from the United States Army. Marty was also Past National Sergeant of Arms and liaison to the Chapel of Four Chaplains and Past Department and Post Commander with the Jewish War Veterans of the USA. He was heavily involved with the Korean War Veterans, Disabled American Veterans and numerous other civic and religious organizations.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Sondra Garber; sons, Mark Greenberg, State College; Allan (Susan) Greenberg, Baltimore, MD; Kevin (Christine) Greenberg; grandchildren, Zachary (Miriam), Jayne, Benjamin, Joshua and Jacob Greenberg; siblings, Sam (Barbara) Greenberg, Kingston; Jules Greenberg,Wilkes-Barre, nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be conducted Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 10:00 am from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River St. Wilkes-Barre, with interment and Military Honors in Anshe Emes Cemetery, Plains.
Shiva will be observed at Temple Bnai Brith, Kingston Tuesday evening and Wednesday.
