Louis (Louie) S. Kranson, a resident of Kingston for 70 years, died Sunday evening, June 4, 2017, at home. He was 95 years old.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Louis was the son of the late Alec and Jenny Rosenthal Kranson and was a graduate of Coughlin High School. Louis served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp. in Italy during World War II as a combat medic and Staff Sgt of the 535th Air Group. Louis was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Theater Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 8 bronze Stars. Louis worked at American Furniture for 60 years as a Sales Manager, was a member of Temple Israel, the Shriners, the Jewish War Veterans as well as other civic and religious organizations. Louis loved the simple things like a good cigar, a corned beef sandwich, the Philadelphia Phillies and playing in his weekly poker game with his friends in the K Club. Most of all, Louis loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Kranson was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jean Michelson Kranson, his son, Jay Kranson and his sisters, Harriet Wasserstrom and Rhoda Perlman.
He is survived by his wife, the former Geraldine Craig; children, Marc Kranson, Allentown; Janet (David) Hoffman, Kingston; Eric Kranson, Kingston; Carol (Marty) Roberts, Edwardsville; step daughter, Debby (Jack) McGroarty, Marlton, NJ; grandchildren, Erin, Jason, Jonathan (Alyson), Jaren, Eythan, Cammie, Zachary, Shannon and Michael; great grandchildren, Mollie, Alex, Jacob, Benjamin, Hendrix, Chase, Chloe and Gabriel and many nieces and nephews.
He lived through the depression, fought a war and helped to build a country. Louis was truly one of the good guys who epitomized the "greatest generation." Louis will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will reside in our hearts eternally.
