Lorraine "Lorry" Lesavoy Weisberger, 79, of Kingston, Pa, died peacefully on March 8, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Lorry, as she was affectionately known, was the wife of the late Marvin Weisberger and the ex-wife of the late Jack Lesavoy. She was the daughter of Florence Forstate Lee Rose and Arthur Lee and subsequently the adopted daughter of Joseph Rose.
Born on August 8th, 1934, Lorry grew up in St Albans, New York. She was awarded her BS in Social Work from Cedar Crest College and her Masters Degree in Certified Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Scranton. She was the former executive director of Haven House, an outpatient mental health clinic in Allentown, for over 14 years before relocating to Kingston where she continued her social work as executive director of the Counseling and Consultation Center. Lorry relocated to Allentown in 1955. Prior to her arrival in Allentown she was a model and actress in New York. She was involved with fundraising and other endeavors at the Allentown and Wilkes Barre Jewish Community Centers, Wilkes-Barre Jewish Family Service and her beloved synagogue, Temple Israel of Wilkes-Barre. In her later years she enjoyed painting, reading and watching Law and Order reruns. Lorry was best known for her directedness of opinion, wittiness and great beauty. Lorry's sense of humor and ability to "get to the point" will be missed by her loving family and circle of friends.
Survivors: Children: Arthur Lesavoy of San Antonio, TX, Lynda (Stuart) Lesavoy Krawitz of Allentown: Grandchildren: Jamie Lesavoy of Beverly Hills, CA., Joseph Lesavoy of Boca Raton, FL and Joshua Krawitz of New York City. Sisters: Sheila Rose of San Diego, CA, Janet Helfand of Cocoa Beach, Fl., Brother: Jerry Rose of Stamford, CT.
Funeral service will be conducted at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc., 348 South River Street, Wilkes-Barre, at 11AM, Monday, March 10, 2014 with Cantor Ahron Abraham officiating. followed by interment at Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville, PA.
Shiva will be held at the home of Stuart and Lynda Krawitz, Monday and Tuesday evenings.
