Lindsay Gordon Nataupsky, born in Kingston on October 10, 1953, passed away on Saturday, April 26th surrounded by her loving family. Born to Dr. Daniel and Bernice Gordon, Lindsay grew up in Kingston with her two sisters, Melissa and Marianne. Her cousins, Marcy, Barbara, and Larry Schneider, were always by her side and they remained best friends all their lives.
After graduating from Wyoming Valley West Senior High School, Lindsay attended Syracuse University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. From there, she went on to earn her Masters Degree as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in women’s health from the University of Pennsylvania. Lindsay had an impressive and impactful career, helping women all throughout northeastern Pennsylvania. She was passionate about women’s health, and was a fierce advocate for reproductive rights. She started her career at the Beth Israel Hospital, joining the legacy of the Nataupsky family there. She went on to work at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia and became the Director of Nursing at Quality Care Nursing. After moving back to Kingston, she was a private duty nurse and a nurse at Mercy Hospital, the Director of Short Stay at Nesbitt Hospital, and then joined a private practice of OBGYN specialists. From there, she became the head nurse practitioner at Planned Parenthood. Throughout her whole career, she forged meaningful and longlasting relationships with colleagues and patients, touching so many lives. She knew and loved everyone in every placed she worked, and they knew and loved her, too.
What Lindsay is most known for, however, was the unconditional love she showed to her friends and family. She was an unfailingly compassionate and caring mother, grandmother, sister, wife, daughter, and friend. Her selflessness touched every person she met, and showed values of optimism, understanding, and helping others through everything she did. She is survived by her husband Gary, as well as her three children: Jessica (wife Ari), Jason (wife Kelsey and children Leo and Hank), and Jillian (husband Jason). Being a mother to her three children and Nana to Leo and Hank were by far her most meaningful roles in her life.
For the past decade, Lindsay and Gary have spent their winters in Naples, Florida, where they formed a close circle of friends. Lindsay was a talented artist and developed a genuine talent in fused glass artwork, a hobby she loved sharing with all those in her life.
In the community, Lindsay was involved with the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre. She was a lifelong member of Hadassah and a strong supporter of Israel. Lindsay and Gary dedicated a room in memory of their parents at the Hadassah Hospital in Israel. She was the first Nurse of Hope for the American Cancer Society. Her faith was an important part of her identity and she was involved with many Jewish organizations, like the Jewish Federation of Greater Wilkes-Barre, throughout her life.
A memorial service will be held at Temple Israel on Monday, April 28 at 12pm. Shiva will be held at Gary and Lindsay’s home (300 Longmeadow Road, Shavertown) on Monday from 7pm-9pm, Tuesday from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm, and Wednesday from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm.
Donations can be made to Temple Israel, the Friedman JCC, Temple B’nai B’rith, Planned Parenthood, and Wyoming Seminary.
