Larry S. Keiser, 77, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, at 8:47 a.m. from natural causes. Larry was born on January 8, 1947, to Doris and Sidney Keiser in Philadelphia, PA. A proud Penn State alumnus, and lifelong champion of the Nittany Lions, he earned his BA in Political Science in 1968, followed by a JD from Temple Law School in 1971, graduating as the Sylvan Balder Memorial Scholar.
Larry’s legal career was as colorful as his personality. He began as a plaintiff’s personal injury and criminal defense attorney in Philadelphia at Becker, Fryman, and Ervaise Law before moving his family back to Kingston in 1977 to join the prestigious Rosenn, Jenkins, and Greenwald Law firm. It was there he discovered his passion for defense litigation, leading him to open his own practice in 1992, where he used his talent and expertise to defend those who needed it most.
Larry was active in the legal community, serving as a member of the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners, member of the PA Bar Association House of Delegates, service as senior law clerk to Judge Joseph Cosgrove, and a hearing committee member of the disciplinary board of the PA Supreme Court. His contributions were recognized by the Luzerne County Bar Association, which honored him with their Presidents Award.
He also held leadership roles at Temple Israel, where he served as chairman of the board of trustees, president, and vice president. He also served as president of the United Hebrew Institute. Larry's dedication to his community and his family was matched only by his love of conversation. Known for being “super chatty,” he never met a stranger and was quick to make everyone feel at home. Whether it was a family holiday or just a casual evening, Larry ensured no one was left alone—there was always an extra seat at the table and a story to be shared.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years and famed chef, Lynn; his daughter, Lauren; his son, Danny; his beloved grandson, Jonny; and brothers Jeffrey amd Richard and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Sidney, and his son, Jonathan.
Larry will be returning with his family from California to Wilkes-Barre where a Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 10 am at Temple Israel Synagogue, Wilkes-Barre with interment following in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Arrangements under the direction of the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. Wilkes-Barre.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society or Temple Israel.
Larry will be forever remembered as a dedicated family man, a sharp legal mind, and a warm presence in every room he entered.
