JULIUS REIN Obituary

Julius I. Rein, 97, of Kingston, died on his 97th birthday, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born on May 17, 1920, in Passaic, NJ, he was the son of the late Ben and Anna Sofer Rein and was a graduate of GAR High School. He served his country proudly during World War II in the United States Army, served in Normandy around D day and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and many other medals. He was a member of Congregation Ohav Zedek and was in the Furniture Business. He was an active member of the JCA, its Men's Club, United Hebrew Institute and many other civic and religious organizations. He was a member and active leader of the former United Orthodox Synagogue; active in Kingston Minyan; was cemetery chairman for B'nai Jacob Cemetery, Anshe Sfard Cemetery, Holshe Yosher Cemetery, Anshe Emes Cemetery and active with the Cemetery committee for many years.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Vivian Kamen Rein and brother, Heshy Rein.

Julius is survived by his children, daughter, Anita Coplan and her husband, Julius, Kingston; sons Howard Rein, of Fairlawn, NJ and Larry Rein, of West Orange, NJ; sister, Rita Bilow, Philadelphia, granddaughter Helene Weisman and her husband, Mitch; Stacey Rubinger and her husband, Josh; Beth Coplan and great grandchildren, Andrew and Jake Weisman, Lila and Sam Rubinger.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River St. Wilkes-Barre with Rabbi Dovid Kaplan officiating.

Interment will be in Anshe Sfard Cemetery, Dallas.

Shiva will be observed at 740 Milton Drive, Kingston, Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 7 to 9, Friday from 2 to 4 and Sunday through Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7-9.

Memorial contribution may be made to charity of donors choice.
