JOEL SUGARMAN

Joel Sugarman, 88 years old, of Berwyn, PA. formally of Wilkes-Barre, PA., passed away on April 15, surrounded by the family he lovingly nurtured for all of his adult life. For 67 years, he was married to the woman of his dreams, Audrey German, of Scranton, PA. They were the parents of three children, Stephen (Rhonda) Sugarman of Clarks Green, PA, Mark (Debi) Sugarman and Pam (David) Moules, both of Malvern, Pa. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the center of his existence.

Born and raised in Hazelton, Pa, the son of Dora (Adelson) and Daniel Sugarman, he graduated from Hazelton High School and attended Penn State University. During his working years, Joel owned and operated Sugarman's Party Land and several other businesses.

Joel had a tremendous sense of humor and constantly searched for newer and "cornier" jokes. His grandchildren, lovingly referred to them as "Pop Pop jokes", and looked forward to trying to outdo him on every occasion with even cornier ones. They never succeeded. Pop Pop jokes were the best!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Moules and a great-granddaughter, Maya Sugarman Lawless and three brothers, Kal, Jack and Harold Sugarman.

Funeral Services will be held at 11am, on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc., 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi David Kaplan officiating. Interment will be at the B'nai Jacob Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre.

Shiva will observed at the home of his son, Stephen, 301 Brighton Drive, Clarks Green, on Wednesday, April 19 from 7-9 pm, Thursday, Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
