Jay Finkelstein, 64, of Kingston, Pa., died peacefully on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021, surrounded by family, after a short but fierce battle with cancer.
Born December 24th, 1957, he was a son of the late Maynard and Helen Dymond Finkelstein. Jay was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, 1975 and Wilkes University, 1979.
Jay was a decorated businessman working for many companies such as Yellow Pages, Geisinger, and up until his last days, ran a successful online small business. Jay was very personable and loved talking to people. Jay loved music, movies, and was a devoted lover of animals.
Jay was preceded in death by his father Maynard Finkelstein (1985); his mother Helen Dymond Finkelstein (1993); brother Max Fine (2011); sister Judy Finkelstein (2013); and mother-in-law, Lois Shonk (2021).
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dorothy (Shonk); son, Billy and his wife Jackie (Flaherty); son Michael; lifelong best friend, Paul Metroka; sister-in-laws, Sandy Fine, Debbie Roberts, Susan Schoonmaker; 6 nieces and nephews, 12 great-nieces and nephews; and his beloved, loyal rescue dog, Jagger.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 24th, 2021 from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River Street Wilkes-Barre. Rabbi Larry Kaplan will officiate. Interment will follow in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.
