Howard I. Sugarman, 71, of Hazleton passed away Wednesday night, October 22, 2014 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Allentown.
Howard was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and was a long-time resident of Hazleton. He was the son of the late Jack and Lillian Sugarman, Hazleton and Wilkes-Barre.
Howard worked in various capacities throughout the years he lived in Hazleton, including Globe Lighting, The Hazleton Redevelopment Authority, Schwabe Dye Press, Interstate Roadmarking, and Square One Mortgage.
Howard was the consummate family man and his family was the center of his existence. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Barbara Gibelman Sugarman; daughters, Wendy Lowden and her husband, Scott, Atlanta, Georgia; Randi Chapin and her husband, Aaron, Drums, Pennsylvania; son, Ryan and his wife, Heather, Hazleton, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Jacob Sugarman; Sydney Chapin; sister, Nancy Sugarman Safran and brother-in-law, Howard, Westbury, New York. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Friday, October 24, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA. A burial service will follow at Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.
The family will be accepting visitors while sitting Shiva on Saturday from 7-9 PM at the Woodlands Inn and Resort in Wilkes-Barre, Sunday and Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the home of Ryan and Heather Sugarman at 135 Hilltop Rd in Hazleton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wilkes-Barre JCC or the American Heart Association.
