HARRIET MORRISON

Harriet Morrison, 94, formerly of Wilkes-Barre. of Plymouth Meeting, PA, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1929 to Samuel Pudberry and Jenny Bogatz.
 

She was predeceased in death by her husband, Irwin Morrison. Harriet also leaves behind her children, Evan (Deborah) Morrison, Cort (Robin) Morrison and Doreen (Thomas) Smith (nee Morrison) and her six grandchildren, Jennie, Eric, Erin, Samantha, Heath and Justin.

Harriet and Irwin married in 1956 in New York and were excited to start their life together, they moved to Wilkes-Barre, PA. After having her three children, she decided to continue her education.  She attended Wilkes-College (now Wilkes University) and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.

After the death of Irwin, she moved to the Philadelphia area.  She worked at many positions including teaching, legal secretary and assistant to the founder of a nonprofit organization.  She loved working and contributing to the community which is why she did not retire until she was 85 years old.

Harriet had many challenges in life, first being born the year of the depression.  Her house was destroyed in Hurricane Agnes in 1972.  She was widowed at the age of 54.  Despite these adversities, she persevered. 

She also traveled the world with her brother, Gene, and many friends.  Visiting countless beautiful destinations including Hawaii, Spain, Portugal, England, Ireland, France and Italy.  She enjoyed the opera, the orchestra and theater around the Philadelphia area.  She and her brother, Gene, traveled to various bridge tournaments earning master points.
 

She was an avid reader even as she got older, always a book on her nightstand.  She had a soft spot for dogs and enjoyed both her own dog Fluffy and every other dog she encountered.

The one lesson Harriet leaves to us is that every moment is precious.  Find your passion and live it to the fullest.

Graveside funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Anshe Emes Cemetery, Rear 12 Blanchard Street, Plains.
