Ethel Fischer, 89, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Kingston, died Wednesday morning, December 9, 2015, in the Jewish Home of Rochester.
Born in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith Stern Seiler and was a graduate of Meyers High School. Ethel worked as a Sales Clerk for Shoemakers Cards and Gifts Shop, Kingston and was a member of Congregation Ohav Zedek and other civic and religious organizations.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Donald Fischer, son, Barry Fischer and his wife, Irma and sister, Barbara Weinberg.
She is survived by son, William Fischer and his wife, Lisa, Rochester, NY; daughter, Debra Handelsman and her husband George, Atlanta GA.
Funeral will be conducted, Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 10:00 am at Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre. Rabbi Dovid Kaplan will officiate. Interment will be in Ohav Zedek Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Shiva will be observed from 4 to 7 pm Sunday, December 13, 2015, at The Woodlands Inn and Resort.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Ohav Zedek, The Jewish Home of Rochester (jewishseniorlifefoundation.org), or Lifetime Care Hospice of Rochester (Lifetimecare.org).
