ESTHER ZIMMERMAN

Esther Zimmerman, 91, of Kingston, formerly of Temple Apartments, Edwardsville, died Thursday morning, January 17, 2013, in Manor Care Nursing Home, Kingston.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Catherine Friedman Newirth and was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. Esther was a member of Hadassah and a former member of Congregation Ohav Zedek and the Jewish Community Center.

Esther was preceded in death by her loving husband, Samuel Zimmerman; brother, Seymour "Zack" Newirth and sister, Pearl Philipson.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Veira and her husband Gustavo, Boston, MA; son, Barry Zimmerman, Seattle, grandchildren, David Veira and his wife, Rebecca and Jessica Veira and one great grandchild on the way.

Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 1:00 pm at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre with Rabbi Raphael Nemetsky officiating.

Interment will follow in Anshe Sfard Cemetery, Dallas.

Shiva will be observed in Boston.
