Dr. Nelson J. Weiser, 94, of Wilkeswood Apartments, died Tuesday evening, March 31, 2015, in the VA Medical Center Hospice, Wilkes-Barre Township.
Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Samuel and Frances Julius Weiser and was a graduate Cornell University and NYU Medical School. Dr. Weiser practiced medicine at the VA Medical Center for over 40 years. He was known for his exemplary medical knowledge and his dedicated caring manner. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was an avid playing tennis and was a member of Congregation Ohav Zedek, Wilkes-Barre and other civic, religious and professional organizations.
Nelson is survived by his loving cousins and his colleague and friend for over 50 years, Fran Petrella. He was able to remain independent in his last years with the love of Mary, Steve and Judy Ellis.
Graveside funeral service was conducted Wednesday, April 1, 2015, in Wellwood Cemetery, Farmingdale, in the Congregation Gates of Prayer section, at 1:00 pm.
