Doris E. Shapiro, of Feasterville-Trevose, PA, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday evening, February 5, 2014, in The Arbors at Buck Run.
Born in Pittston, daughter of the late Herman and Belle Biederman Eisen, Dorrie graduated from Mt. Siani Hospital, NYC, and Wilkes College. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the Red Cross. Dorrie was on the Board of the Jewish Family Services and volunteered for many Jewish organizations. She was a member of Temple B'nai B'rith, Hadassah, and other civic and religious organizations.
Dorrie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Selig Shapiro and sister Hilma Slavin Brown.
She is survived by sons, Dr. Steven Shapiro (Ruth) of Kansas City; Larry Shapiro (Jacki) of Philadelphia; Cantor Henry Shapiro of Pittsburgh; one granddaughter, 3 grandsons, her sister Sally Basch of Philadelphia, and many other loving extended family members and friends.
Funeral service is on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 12:00 noon, Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River St, Wilkes-Barre. Interment follows at Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Shiva will be observed locally Friday, following the funeral, at 94 E. Walnut Street, Kingston.
