DAVID HOFFMAN Obituary

David C. Hoffman, 72, a resident of Kingston died unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2020.  

 

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., David was the son of the late Selma and Eddie Hoffman. He was a graduate of Wilkes University.  David was the former owner of Town and Country Furniture and was employed as an executive with Vector Security.  David was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Masons, Men’s Club of the JCC, Temple Israel and served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. David also served in the United States Army Reserve with the 402nd Military Police and achieved the rank of Major. 

 

David was an avid softball player in his younger years and following his retirement he received his private detective license and became a World War II and history aficionado.

David was charismatic, funny and “larger than life”. David will truly be missed by those who knew him best.

 

David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jeffrey Hoffman. 

He is survived by his wife, Janet Hoffman (Kranson); children, Erin Katzen (Peter Phillips Jr.), Bala Cynwyd, PA, Jonathan (Alyson) Hoffman, Merion Station, PA,  and Jason Hoffman, Kingston, PA; grandchildren, Mollie Katzen, Alex Katzen, Jake Hoffman, Ben Hoffman; and faithful pet schnauzer, Nero.

 

Funeral service, with Military Honors, will be held at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 South River Street, Wilkes-Barre PA at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 20th, 2020.

 

Shiva will be observed at the Woodlands Inn and Resort, Thursday, 5:00-8:00pm.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
