CHERYL A. POPKY

Cheryl Ann Popky, 64, of Kingston, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born in Manasquan, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Michael Shimko and Evelyn Mihneski Shimko of Glen Lyon.  Cheryl was a graduate of Nanticoke High School and was employed by the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in the Environmental Department.  She loved spending time with her family, dogs, but especially her grandson.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her 8 month old son, Jacob Popky and brother, Michael Shimko.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Ken Popky; son, Erik of Wilkes-Barre; Sarah Popky-Yachna of Edwardsville; Rebecca Popky of Jasper, TN and Katrina Popky of Treverton; one grandson, Jacob Yachna; siblings, Donna Shimko, Daniel Shimko,  Marlene Dennis, Kenneth (Denise) Shimko, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 1:00 pm in Ohav Zedek Cemetery, Hanover Township with Rabbi Dovid Kaplan officiating.

Shiva will be observed 7-9 on Thursday January 20, 2022; 2-4 on Friday; 7-9 on Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 on Sunday, at Eagle Ridge Apartments Community Room; 9 Beverly Drive, Edwardsville, PA 18704.
