CHARLES FORTINSKY Obituary

Charles J. "Chuck" Fortinsky, of Wilkes-Barre, 86, died peacefully Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the Jewish Home of Eastern PA, Scranton.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Chuck was the son of the late Jack and Sarah Schectman Fortinsky and for most of his professional career was a manufacturer's representative in the residential furniture industry. He was a former active member of the JCC and Rotary Club in Wilkes-Barre, and a current member of Temple Israel.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, the former Davida Lehrman, and by brothers, Harold and Robert Fortinsky.

He is survived by his sons, Richard and his wife, Patricia, Old Lyme, CT and James, Washington DC; 3 grandchildren, Kyle, Laura, and Celia; sister, Jeanne Fainberg and her husband, Stanley, Dallas; nieces and nephews.

Chuck was a loyal fan of Meyers High School football for many years. He had a congenial personality and enjoyed engaging in lively conversation with family, friends, and business associates alike. He loved traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Sunday, January 11, 2015, at 12:00 noon, at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River St. Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Shiva will be observed at 220 New Elizabeth Street, Wilkes-Barre, on Sunday, January 11, from 7-9 pm; Monday, January 12, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm; and Tuesday, January 13, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.

The Fortinsky family wishes to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the dedicated care staff at the Jewish Home of Eastern PA for the kind and excellent care they provided to Chuck during the time he spent there.
