Bryna F. Kellman, 82, of Shavertown, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Henry and Lillian Bloomberg.
Bryna was a graduate of Hunter College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She continued her studies toward a master’s degree in art education, reflecting her lifelong love of creativity and learning.
She was a devoted member of Congregation Ohav Zedek in Wilkes-Barre, as well as other community and religious organizations. Bryna found joy in her dogs, traveling, knitting, and reading, and she cherished time spent with family and friends. She was a devoted dog lover, especially fond of Old English Sheepdogs and poodles, which brought her endless joy over the years.
A passionate and unwavering supporter of Israel, she traveled there many times and felt a deep personal connection to the land and its people. She took immense pride in her daughter’s participation in the Maccabiah Games—twice representing her community with honor—and cherished that special family bond to Israel.
A life member of Hadassah, she was deeply committed to Jewish communal life and philanthropy. She was a proud recipient of the Jewish Federation’s Lion of Judah Award and participated in both the first and second “Mission to Israel” with the Philadelphia Federation. In recognition of her enduring dedication, her name is inscribed on the Founders Wall at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
Her connection to Israel lives on through her son, Aryeh, and his family, who reside there, continuing the legacy she so passionately embraced.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Ian Kellman; her son, Aryeh “Andrew” Kellman and his wife, Rochel Leah, of Israel; her daughter, Janelle Kellman, of Sausalito, California; four grandchildren, Yonatan, Adina, Daniel Chanan and Taliah Hallel; her sister, Joan Leiner; her brother, Eric Bloomberg; and several nieces and nephews.
