Bernard Okun, 89, formerly of Stamford, CT, died Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017 in Plains, with family by his side.
Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late James and Molly Letzer Okun and was a graduate of NYU and the University of Bridgeport, where he earned his masters degree. Bernard was a teacher in Fairfield County School District prior to retiring and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Frances Friedman.
He is survived by his sons, Gary Okun and his wife, Dr. Jeanne Torony, Plains; Jeffrey Okun, Stamford, CT and two grandchildren, Jordan and Justin Okun, Plains and his long time companion, Vi Peters, Plains.

Graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 2:00 pm in Agudath Sholom Cemetery, Westhill Rd. Stamford, CT with Rabbi Cohen officiating.
Shiva will be observed Friday from 2 to 8 pm at 120 Hollywood Drive, Plains.
