BRAD ECKERT Obituary

Brad A. Eckert, 59, of Dallas, died peacefully late Saturday evening, November 23, 2013 at home, with his wife Sherry by his side.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John and Nancy Eckert and was a graduate of Hempfield High School and Shippensburg University with a BS in Business. Brad was employed over the years as a sales rep for Lee Jeans, Acorn Corporation, various sales companies, and most recently employed at TJ Max distribution center in the merchandise control department. Brad was a member of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, King David Lodge, and Shriners International. He was also a member of Temple Israel Synagogue, Wilkes-Barre.

In all four years of high school, Brad qualified and competed in the Swimming State Championships in the 50 yard butterfly and in 1967 he finished second, receiving a sliver medal. He also pitched for his high school and college baseball teams.

Brad is survived by his loving family, his wife, Sherry Goldwein and daughter, Adria Eckert.

He was supported by Sherry's family who accompanied him through many hospital and doctors visits, Debbie Goldwein and her husband David Rudd, Jay Goldwein and his wife Zenaida Gaitana, and niece and nephew, Kylee Rudd and Ben Singer-Scott.

The family would also like to acknowledge Brad's friends who enabled him to continue enjoying kayaking, cross country skiing, golfing, hiking, dinner and movies, and pizza and beer night. They include Billy, Wayne, Carl, Rob, Jay, Bobby, Jamie, George and Charlie. Brad is also survived by Bruce and Diane Eckert.

A special thank you to Dr Andrews of Thomas Jefferson; Dr Sampson and Dr Ranjan of Duke; Dr Peters and Leah of Nroc; Dr Saidman and Angela of Medical Oncology; and Celtic Hospice and Megan. Also to Carl who drove him to his endless medical appointments.

Brad will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 26 at 2:00 pm, at the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi Raphael Nemetsky and Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating.

Interment will be in Ohav Zedek Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Shiva (visitation) will be observed 7-9pm, Tuesday; 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Wednesday; 2-4 Friday and 7-9 pm Saturday at 22 Baldwin Street, Dallas.
