Bernard Bender, of Lake Worth, FL, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019, in Bethesda West Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Morris and Lillian Wruble Bender and was a graduate of Wyoming High School; East Stroudsburg University, Seton Hall University and Montclair State University, where he earned his Masters Degree. Bernard was a member of the NJ Retired Teachers Association and other civic and religious organizations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Yelen.
He is survived by his wife, Esther L. Kaufer Bender; son, Stephen Bender and his wife, Lauren of Weston, FL; daughter, Susan Hoffman and her husband, Manny of Manlius, NY; four grandchildren, Daniel, Vivian, Amanda and Charlie; brother, Norman Bender and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at 2:00 pm in the West Pittston Jewish Cemetery, 22 Wilkern St. West Pittston, PA 18643.
