Barbara Lois Shapiro Greenberg, of Kingston, died Sunday morning, April 14, 2019, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Evelyn Marrus Shapiro and was a graduate of Meyers High School and Rider University, NJ and worked as an insurance underwriter. She was a member of Temple Israel, its sisterhood, Hadassah, the JCA, past national president of the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary and long time member of Wyoming Valley Chevra Kadisha. Barbara volunteered for decades at the VA Hospital, was an avid reader; enjoyed knitting and spending time with grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by brother Marvin Shapiro.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Greenberg; children, Renee (Scott) Buckler, Montville, NJ; Gary (Cheri) Greenberg, Kingston; Sheri (Eric) Gelvar, Baltimore, MD; 10 grandchildren, Max, Elli, Nathan, Charlene, Adam, Evan, Atoosa, Cody, Jake, Evy and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 12:00 noon from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River St. Wilkes-Barre with Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating.
Interment will follow in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Shiva will be Tuesday from 4:30 to 7:30 at Temple Israel, 239 S. River St.Wilkes-Barre.
