Arthur Silverblatt passed away on March 18, 2025 from complications from a brain tumor. He was seventy-four.
The son of Arthur Silverblatt and Elizabeth Friend Silverblatt, Art was born and raised in Kingston. A graduate of Hiram College and Widener University School of Law, he spent a five- decade career as an attorney, becoming the region’s preeminent family law practitioner. A longtime member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a former chairman of the Family Law Committee of the Luzerne County Bar Association, Art guided countless clients through difficult times, advocating tirelessly for the best interests of parents and children.
A voracious reader and music enthusiastic, Art had a lifelong appreciation for masters of the writing craft, including Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, John le Carré, and George V. Higgins. These are passions that will carry on for generations through his family.
Art is survived by his wife Susan (Weisberger) of Kingston; his son Rob (Julia) of Washington, DC; his two grandchildren, Samuel and Isabelle, of Washington, DC; his sister Anne Greenwald (Michael) of Philadelphia; and his nephew Andy Greenwald of Los Angeles.
A service will be held at Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River Street in Wilkes-Barre, on Thursday, March 20, at 1:00 PM, with Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society.
