Miriam Brand, 91, of Kingston, died Thursday, December 13, 2018, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Larksville, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Dora Baron Levinson and was a graduate of Larksville High School and College Misericordia, where she earned her Bachelors Degree. She was a teacher at Crestwood Senior High and was a member of Congregation Ohav Zedek, it's sisterhood, Order of Eastern Star, Hadassah, the Jewish Community Center and other civic and religious organizations. She enjoyed playing Mah Jong, trips to the Casino and loved to travel, especially Cruises.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her sisters, Gertrude Koff; Beatrice Hearst and Estelle Freedman.
Miriam is survived by her loving husband, Julius Brand; sons, Larry Brand and his wife, Linda, Kingston; Dr. Charles Brand and his wife, Lisa, Forty Fort and two grandsons, Samuel Brand, Wyoming and Stephen Brand, Boston, Mass.
Funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at 11:00 am from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River St. Wilkes-Barre with Rabbi Dovid Kaplan officiating. Interment will be in Ohav Zedek Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Shiva will be observed at 574 Warren Ave., Kingston from 7 to 9 pm Sunday through Tuesday; 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday and 7-9 pm on Thursday with evening minyan at 8 pm.
