ELAINE GERMAN

Elaine German of Kingston passed away Thursday afternoon, June 14, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

       Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Jacob White and Rose Freedman White.  She graduated from Forty Fort High School, Class of 1941 as Valedictorian.

       She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Leonard German, her grandson, Jeffrey Adam German and her great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Naomi German.

       Elaine is survived by her children, Sandi Teplitz, Allentown, Sheldon German and his wife, Linda, Wilkes-Barre and Margery Rifkin and her husband, Michael, Kingston, her grandchildren Robin Dimond, Nick Teplitz, Justin Teplitz, David German, Daniel German, Laura Rongione, Julie Diperstein and Adam Rifkin. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren,  Logan, Brady, Jack, Holden and Samuel,  cousins, friends and many nieces and nephews.

       Elaine worked as medical secretary for Dr. Albert Schiowitz for 29 years.  She was a member of Congregation Ohav Zedek, Hadassah, Talmud Torah Ladies' Auxiliary,  The Jewish Community Center of Wyoming Valley and a life member of the Ohav Zedek Sisterhood, having served a double term as the president of the sisterhood.

     Elaine was a warm, loving person whose greatest joy was family. She enjoyed social functions and served as chairperson on many committees.  Her kindness to all was exemplary.

    The family wishes to express gratitude to her caregiver of several years, Natalia, her doctors,  and to the staff of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.  She will be sadly missed by all and by Coco as well, whose company she loved.

     Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 17 at 12:30 p.m at Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre.  Rabbi David Kaplan will officiate.  Interment will be in Anshe Ahavas Achim Cemetery, West Pittston.

     Shiva will be observed at 445 N. Gates Avenue, Apartment 1, Kingston,  Sunday, 7 to 9 p.m and Monday through Thursday, 2 to 4 p.m and 7 to 9 p.m.

     Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Congregation Ohav Zedek, Wilkes-Barre or to a charity of the donor's choice.
