DR. GARY E. FRANK OD

Dr. Gary E. Frank, OD, 76, of Harveys Lake, died Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Kingston to the late Ruth and Milton Frank, Gary was a basketball star at Kingston High School.  His nickname was Mickey because he tried out for The Mickey Mouse Club.  Gary furthered his education at Wilkes College and then at The Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia.

He was a well-known and respected optometrist at Dr. Brown’s, a family business and then at Northeastern Eye Institute.  An accomplished athlete throughout his life, Gary loved skiing (water and snow), basketball and swimming.  He was a self-proclaimed carpenter who designed and built 2 homes in Kingston and Harveys Lake.  Gary loved gardening and took pride in his beautiful landscaping and gardens.  He cherished the time he had with his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with and taking pictures of his family.  Gary truly loved living at Harveys Lake and was a fixture to all who passed by his dock and gardens.

Survived by: His wife of 36 years, Helen Frank; his children Michael (Kris) Frank, Kristin Frank, Robert (Faith) Racusin, Ronni (Russell) Stuart; his grandchildren Oliver, Charlotte and Lila Frank, Brayden and Avery Stuart, Lazar and Sari Racusin; his sisters Sally (Joel) Freed, Susan Frank, and brother Joel Frank.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 12:00 pm noon from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc. 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre.

Shiva will be observed at the family home, 2923 Lakeside Dr., Harveys Lake, 7-9pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018 and 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday, August 13, 2018.
