Harvey Rappaport, 80, of Canton, Mass, formerly of Kingston, died on Sunday, March 31, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Paul R. and Bertha Wolf Rappaport and was a graduate of Swoyersville High School, Class of 1961. He earned his BS degree in Pharmacy from Temple University School of Pharmacy and for many years, he worked as a pharmacist for Rural Health Corporation in Noxen. He was a former member of the Jewish Community Center and President of the Men's Club, the JCC Crooners, Temple Israel Synagogue and other civic and religious organizations. He also served as the President of the Luzerne County Pharmaceutical Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Rappaport.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anne H. Rappaport, daughter Ellen (Chuck) Tanowitz of Newton, Mass; three grandchildren. Alex, Ben and Shoshi Tanowitz.
Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 3, 3024 at 1:00 pm from the Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, Inc., 348 S. River Street, Wilkes-Barre. Rabbi Larry Kaplan will officiate. Interment will follow in the West Pittston Jewish Cemetery.
Shiva will be observed at the JCC, Kingston on Wednesday following burial from 3-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Temple Israel, Wilkes-Barre or another charitable organization.
